Hidding not, just forgotten

This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for July 23, 2009:
Deep within
under the needy layers
Beyond distorted fragments
created from hunger.
Buried by shoddily
manufactured illusions
Cheap plastic toys
with wanting eyes
and grabby hands.
Countless
self help videos
set on auto replay
Defining the benchmark
This is how you
should be.
A lifetime of
needing praise
wanting applause
building self-esteem
defining self-worth
----------------------------------------------
Aren't we human beings a funny species.
Our pet dogs must look at us so perplexed.
Having no idea of what we do or why we do it.
Dogs have no need for a mirror. They have
got it figured out. No lies, no illusions, just
one quick sniff of your butt and your best buddy
knows how you are doing.
Their self esteem isn't based off of how
nicely their coat is brushed, or the jewel
encrusted collar their all knowing master
so lovingly bestowed upon them.
Our true self has no need for "Esteem"
The one who we truly are has no defenition of "Worth"
You might say that you just have to accept yourself.
How can you accept somthing that you already have?
In order to not cast any aspersions, I don't
have this self thing figured out yet. I'll get the
puzzle pieces together just to realize I have
created yet another illusion.
The one thing I do know, the ability to
lovingly chuckle at yourself is a good skill to have.

Help

I think so too.
George,
I appreciate your courage to voice your authentic debates, reminding us we are all human, doing our very best.Thank you.
George, my friend the poet. I read your post much earlier in the day, and thought about it some, now I have the time to sit and write. That's why we love our pets so much. Because they love us so much. Why can't we accept ourselves? Who is it that's is always driving us on to be more than the man in the mirror? Or woman, as the case may be. Our families? Our employers or employees? Our friends, maybe neighbors? Well, I think it is us, our pride that nowadays goes around dressed up as ego. One of the most popular deadly sins on the market today,Pride is and very marketable it is too. I think your poem says it all very clearly, a lifetime of living for applause is surely a lifetime gone wasted on vanity. For myself, I know you to be a fine sort of man with every thing where it should be. Priorities matter, pride and self-esteem aren't really on the same page, self-esteem gets you out of the bed in the morning, pride will lay there and think, “They'll just have to wait til I'm ready.” You can go hungry on Pride. Any way, loved the thought you put into your post, especially about doggie ESP.
“The one thing I do know, the ability to
lovingly chuckle at yourself is a good skill to have.”
So be it, Amen, and so it is … regardless of your background, I agree with you wholeheartedly!
Mia, Sandi, And Laurie:
Please forgive me for my delayed response. This bubble that I live in has really been screaming for attention this month. Anyway, It makes my day when I see that you have posted comments on what I write! I personally benefit from your enlightening thoughts and sensitivities each of you have been blessed with. You are very gracious with your valuable time and angelic perceptions.
I am the blessed one for the opportunity to be your friend.
Very Gratefully Yours
George
