Self acceptance rather than self definition

Posted on Jun 12th, 2009 by R George Merrill : George R George Merrill
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for June 12, 2009:

We are as starving orphans.... emaciated selves.... frantically grabbing and snatching..... our inconsolable hunger never appeased.... desperately devouring that which is not real for self definition....brushing off....diluting our pure unique beauty and color with the invisible.

As Human beings it seems we are always searching beyond ourselves for objects, ideas, and people that we feel will help project who we imagine ourselves to be. From the moment we are brought into this world the education of seeking outside ourselves begins. We learn very early that it is important to be accepted. In order to be accepted we must look, act, and be a certain way.

The word "Unique" is largely a negative connotation in the English language. It is through very subtle language like this that we are taught to fear and avoid that which is different. We are taught that success should look a certain way. Sadly the version of success we are taught leads to a vicious cycle of heartache and discouragement.

Truthfully life is hard. When we continue to search outside ourselves for the secret to life things just become much more difficult. Each of us are hardwired with special abilities. But because we are blinded by the world twisted perspective regretfully many of us will never discover and basque in what makes us us.

This is what I want to commit to. Accepting me. This may sound self serving but in reality when I am not spending time searching out there for the un-findable I can spend much more time attending to those that I love.
